The BCRA have rescheduled the field meeting to the Upper Dove Valley which was cancelled due to Storm Arwen last November. It will now take place on Saturday 19th March, and will be led by Prof John Gunn and Andy Farrant.

The field visit will provide an introduction to the  spectacular geology, hydrology, karst landforms and caves of the upper Dove valley (Chrome Hill & Dowell Dale). We will meet at the British Caving Library, Glutton Bridge [SK17 0EN], from 10.00 am where parking, tea/coffee facilities and a toilet are available. See http://caving-library.org.uk/ for details of how to get there. There will be an opportunity to view the library, have a drink and use the WC before we depart at c. 11:00. The BCA librarian Jenny Potts will be there to show people round and answer any questions. The precise route will depend on the weather and enthusiasm of the participants. We expect to finish the walk by mid-afternoon.

There will be 18 places available on a first come first served basis. To book please fill in the google form here: https://forms.gle/XnsahBX48ByRLApV9. The meeting is free, but donations to BCRA are welcome on the day or online (https://bcra.org.uk/bookshop/donate.html). Please bring suitable footwear as the route is likely to be muddy and slippery underfoot. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring lunch as there is not a pub stop en route. For last minute information in case of bad weather, please see our Facebook page.

For those of you who were keen to visit the British Cave Science Centre at Poole's Cavern (See https://www.cave-science.org.uk/), we hope to run this trip in May and will make the details available soon.
