I have noticed an increasing number of hacking attempts on the BCRA Online Archive, albeit unsuccessful, from the pesky Russians in recent weeks. They weren't likely to have ever succeeded, and there is no real damage they could do even if they had. The attempts were being made specifically through the 'image proxy server' functionality, and 'add user contribution' functionality, so they must have thought about it, but why they bother, beats me. Maybe it is an FSB Agency student project!
Partly out of technological interest, I have upgraded the code so that all data being passed between the application and the browser is now encrypted and signed, which should be an impenetrable barrier until sufficiently large and stable quantum computers become available in 10 years or so. Everything seems to continue to work as expected, but if anyone comes across any behavioral anomalies in the application, do please let me know.
