Hi,
Looks like I left my Blue SRT bag at SWCC or OFD bottom entrance area somewhere. Had it when I came out but can't remember after that. It has a pair of oceanic dive gloves in it, also a small container with painkillers, the remote for my camera and a letter explaining that I have BCA insurance, this is from the Wealden cave and mine society, has my name on it.

Be glad to get it back, the gloves were brand spankers. :(

If anyones seen it please let me know. Someone (cheers Vince) has looked at SWCC for me but to no avail.
Thanks
John

Looks like it was in the lost property at SWCC and someone might have whipped it, , had my name in it to which makes it even worse.

And silly bastards continue to leave stuff at Penwyllt, I picked up a helmet and belay belt from outside the showers tonight.

Gotta get over it and get my wallet out, again..
Not the first time then!

I am amazed at how careless people are with kit. As  far as I am aware kit left at SWCC is usually put in the DO cupboard, hence about 4 helmets, assorted watches, rechargeable cell and other sundry kit in there now.

If your kit was stolen from the club it is most unusual. Stuff not claimed for a long time usually ends up in the help yourself box by the mens showers or in a 'for rescue' auction.

John,

Rather a quick assumption that your gear has been stolen considering that in your initial post you cannot even remember where you last saw it. Perhaps having to buy some more will help encourage you to look after it better in future.

As Jopo says, theft from Penwyllt is highly unusual. Have inadvertently left gear up there plenty of times and have never lost a thing (although, in my case, I am careful NOT to put my name on anything!).

Yeah it was careless to leave it behind, but we all make mistakes. I'll be more careful in future.

I remember leaving it in the shower room, it fell out of sight into the old shower cubicle on the left, it was heaving in there at the time and I forgot it retrieve it on my way out. It was then seen in the lost property basket and subsequently went AWOL. Caving clubs do have a good record of honesty, but so many people go through there. Some passing punter might have taken a liking to it and removed it. It may even have been removed in good faith to be passed on and is yet to be materialize.

Cheers
J
