Budget waterproofs for wet walk-ins?

For car park changing I bought an osprey changing robe, easier on the bank balance than a “Dry-Robe” ™️, waterproof and cosy for diving home in when I cba getting fully dressed

As dougle89, I also bought a fibre pile changing robe, in my case Heatwave brand, even cheaper than Osprey. For walking to a cave in the rain I just wear what I'm caving in. If it's raining the cave is probably wet too.

For mines or dryer caves where wearing a boilersuit is a reasonable option, I have worn an ex MoD poncho. Also handy for changing afterwards as plenty of room inside. Not so good in high winds though

Big thumbs up for ponchos. In the right circumstances (including changing) they're brilliant! If they weren't so staggeringly uncool, I suspect they'd be worn much more frequently. Excellent for unexpected bivis, too...

Aldi or Lidl hi vis waterproof cycling jackets, generally £20ish. Sometimes have a hood which is better. Are actually waterproof too. Unlike Alpkit teabag technology waterproofs.

Go outdoors and sports direct are other possible sources (charity shops in /near national parks are a good shout too)

If you want something breathable (for long walk ins carrying heavy [sweaty!] loads) Mountain Warehouse aren't bad. Register for their advertising emails and they're always sending info on sale items and special offers including free delivery.

I agree with Pitlamp. I get their cheap fabric boots and reasonably priced waterproofs for general knockabout stuff where the weather won't kill me. For serious hills and really bad forecast it's Scarpa/Paramo time. At the moment they're running their summer 20% off online/in-store offer (use the code SUN20 online until 14th June).
