Bullpot Farm Rain Gauge - Not Working?

Does anyone know who owns the rain gauge at Bullpot Farm (https://www.weatherlink.com/embeddablePage/show/59bc883a86f247e7a1c454482089e750/summary)?

It seems it might have stopped recording data as there's been no rain recorded for the last week.

Could you give us the heads up on here when it's running again, so we know if any further zero readings are genuine?

Glad to hear that people find it useful! I will try and remember to put a heads up here when it’s back — but you should also be able to tell by looking at its temperature reading. When it’s no longer a cosy 17C, it’s probably back outside again!

I certainly find it useful. It's my first port of call if I'm caving in the west.

If you go to map view on above link you can also find 1, 6 and 24 hour rain gauges at far gearstone (Ribblehead), beckermonds and littondale, as well as others scattered further afield

Thanks all for your responses.

I've updated the Speleodex tracker for the last few days to avoid suggesting there's been no rainfall over the period - I'll try and keep this up to date until the gauge is live again.

Sedbergh gauge shows almost no rain from last Monday up until this weekend - 2.6mm total last 7 days:

If so, someone must have been on the case quickly because it's recorded data as normal from Friday onwards, so thank you! Of all the sources of weather information I consult regularly, I have to say the Bull Pot Farm gauge if probably the most valuable.

I spotted that the readings on that day seemed off - if Speleodex is showing "No Data" it's because something has caused me to doubt the (usually) zero reading and so I've removed the entry. The gauge itself on that day wasn't showing anything for most of its metrics (wind, humidity, etc) so I suspect there was some sort of fault. Seems to have been working for the last couple of days though. It does seem odd that it's got a zero for today, but it's showing plausible values for temperature etc, so I assume it's still in position

Dales gauges are showing anything from 0 (malham) to 3mm (littondale) in last 6 hours (& they aren't far apart - others are equally variable). Gauges don't record snow / hail until it melts, and it is still zero degrees up there

If the readings are uploaded, they should be correct. It looks like a load of readings weren’t uploaded in the last few days — this typically happens due to internet problems, or wireless connectivity problems. I’ve not been able to debug the problem enough to fix it perfectly.

You can see if a reading is missing (rather than present, but zero) by looking at one of the line chart variables (such as temperature) rather than a bar chart variable (such as rainfall). A missing reading will result in a missing point in the chart.

For anyone heading out on a new year's day caving trip, just be aware that the BPF rain gauge has clocked around FIVE INCHES of rain during the weather event yesterday and overnight. It'll be pretty wet underground.
