From 2019 until last year the Hidden Earth opening video was used to promote the video salon and in this role it has been very successful. More videographers than ever are submitting their work into the salon and the quality of the entries has been improving significantly year on year.
However, some of us yearned for the old days when the opening video fulfilled its role as a conference opener - something with a little pizzazz, something that got the attendees in a good frame of mind for the days to follow, something a little upbeat.
Before 2019 the opening video was the work of a single person. Usually the winner of the previous year’s video salon was invited the make it. This year we tried something a little different, it was very much a collaborative effort involving a total of 23 people, as you can see below, and by the feedback we have had, it seems to have been well-received. So we would like to repeat the formula next year.
At this stage we need to establish a concept and put together a storyboard. Later we will need video clips and, depending on the storyboard, we may need narrators, musicians, animators, artists and critical friends.If you feel that you could make a contribution, please message me. We will be arranging a Zoom meeting in the new year to start the planning process.
