Car damage at Jug Holes/Masson parking

Could be a one off, hopefully not the start of tyre slashing etc. as we saw years back - either way be aware when parking for Jug Holes or Masson

On the 7th May I had a trip into Masson. It was a busy day with parking at a premium. A woman in a black Suzuki stopped to berate one of our friends, generally being a Karen. I took a photo of her car, but I didn't get a good look at her. Despite everyone being well parked she was having a good rant about farm vehicles getting by, and being on the local council member.
On returning home I mailed the DCA as a heads up and thought no more of it...

We were here 16th of this month to have a walk to heights of Abraham and back via the footpath at devonshire.

On route back past the quarry we could tell there was a lot of commotion going on.

Turns out it was a dry tooling event which was advertised online. After more research it looks like this wasn't a bmc event so maybe the landowners wasn't contacted?

When we got back to the road, I joke you not, it was the worst I've saw Parking there in the last 3 years or more! Literally cars were having to pass half way down the hill due to so many cars.

If this is the case it's no wonder they are kicking off. Shame about cars being vandalised though that's not on at all!

I’m sure they know cavers cars vs climbers cars. A trip of a reasonable number of cavers in a reasonable number of cars parked reasonably shouldn’t attract any attention. 1 person per car on a trip of 8 would attract attention but could be done in 2 cars?

I find it easy to walk up tbh... It's just a pain to recover rope and kit but you could leave a brave soul in the car to counter any angry councilours or farm wives!!

Parked there a couple of times in the last week without bother- most people should be able to work out what is courteous parking and what is not.

A bit of an update on the DCA Registry:
In short, it is as Larry suggests above. Park considerately on the lane and expect some aggro if you park on or opposite the farm turning area or reduce the space for large farm vehicles driving up the road. The passing place signs are advisory only (Council). The no parking signs are not Council and have no legal standing, but landowner relations are very important here if access is to be maintained to the sites in the area.
DCA are still in talks with BMC so cavers and climbers can take a common approach and are working from the same info.

Thanks for the update, Looking at taking a small group up there one evening this month, if there are going to be more than a couple of cars I will suggest we meet in Matlock and car share from there and park very sensibly when we get there.

A further update on the parking advice is live on the Registry now. This advice has been agreed with BMC and both their and our websites have the same text and map.

The parking & approach info is exactly the same in both (as stated)
I disagree, Pete says "The passing place signs are advisory only (Council). The no parking signs are not Council"- if u can't park in passing places as the BMC says "Do not park in spaces on the road marked as passing places." you'd be parking in Matlock

That is Pete's interpretation though, not what is written in the peak caving info website.
Yeah, that's me saying that not DCA! Main thing is not to piss off the locals, or we all suffer. Park sensibly as if you had a million quid motor and your paintwork and mirrors depended on an HGV getting up the lane and turning into the farm. This'll hopefully all calm down soon enough, but we want cavers to not be seen as the issue here.

We parked up there yesterday, sticking to the designated areas and were fine. I noticed a number of climbers were parked in the 'passing point' signs (which I find highly questionable).
