Certified outdoors first aid course

On Sunday, we published a new training course for February next year, details below.

Two day certified outdoor first aid: 21-22nd February, Fraser Hall, Cowan Bridge.

This course differs from our usual workshops in that it is a certified course, run by an external provider, Rescue and Emergency Care (REC).

This practical, hands-on course gives you the skills to manage casualties particularly in outdoor and underground environments. It meets the prerequisites for many National Governing Body awards (Mountain Training, BCA, Paddle UK, DofE, etc.) and provides a 3-year first aid certificate.

This is suitable for cavers who want to expand their skill set and learn valuable first aid skills specifically in an outdoor / underground context. It is also suitable for outdoor instructors who need to revalidate their first aid certificates.

The two days will include a mixture of indoor and outdoor learning (no caving).

Please note that although CNCC are the organiser – as we believe this will provide a valuable resource to many cavers in our region - this is not a CNCC subsidised event in the way our usual workshops are. Nonetheless, we believe the cost of £95 for two days professional training and certification is great value.

As with all our new training events, this was initially advertised to our mailing list subscribers with the intention of then advertising any remaining spaces via social media the following day. However, all spaces were taken within about eight hours of being advertised - we didn't expect such high demand!
