Chamber of horrors

Has anyone here done the chamber of horrors recently? Is it still possible? I heard that the ducks have slowly gotten more full over the years

Three of our members (all women from small to tall) tried about three years ago from the Oxlow side, despite me literally begging them not to - they didn't get through and all survived, I'm relieved to add. But I think on an average day there's about 3cm of airspace, zero visibility and an awkward squeezy route. There's a grim video here of Rob and Sam from the Eldon trying to do it a few years before from the Giants side which should put most people off:

Ah ok, thanks for the info! That looks horrific, I'll definitely poke my head down but in not sure it's for me :)

The Giants end is much closer to the sumped section and is larger passage - from Pilgrim's Way in Oxlow there's a flat-out squeeze in a deep puddle to just get into the main approach passage. I couldn't even get through that on my back, and I'm not fat at all. So letting them all go to what I considered certain doom, and leaving Oxlow on my own was really depressing. And then a three-hour wait for them to come back - really stressful. Given you can get to both sides of the same shitty sump in one day safely, I'd stick to that, though you'll waste a fiver doing it ;)

Don't believe the naysayers, it's an awesome section of cave and should be on any serious Derbyshire caver's bucket list. We only failed in that YouTube video because of heavy rain beforehand. We went back a few weeks later and got through fine. It's certainly not pleasant, but that's not why we cave in Derbyshire is it!

Although i do agree with pwhole's comment that it's best first attempted from the Giants side, as that's much closer to the worst bit.

And you're a bit smaller than me ;)
