Chapel Head Scar Caves

Was out for a walk up Whitbarrow today and noticed to obvious caves on Chapel Head Scar, just wondering if anyone has had a look in them?

Chapel Head is/was a pretty popular climbing venue, so you might find some info in the relevent guidebook.

Thanks, I checked Lancashire Rock before posting but it only has one mention of a cave in the sense of "climb up to cave". I just thought I'd ask if there was any potential before I make any efforts in trying to gain some interest for a look-see...

Have a look at "The Caves & Karst Of Whibarrow, Cumbria" by Phil Murphy (BCRA Caves & Caving 84 pp.28-31, Summer 1999).

This is an extremely useful source of information on that area. It would have been even more useful if the actual reference list which Phil supplied with the article had actually made it into the pages of the journal at the time.

If you do go for a look please can you post something about the site on here? (Or if you prefer not to I'd be grateful for a PM with the basic information about what you found).

Good luck.

(P.S. if you can't easily get hold of this reference send me a PM anyway and I'll look it up for you.)
