Guys we are ONE MONTH away from CHECC 2025 - yippee!!
The time has finally come for the announcement of this years competitions, so buckle your seatbelts and start taking notes:
1 - VIDEO COMPETITION
You guys smashed it so hard last year, and Descent Caving Magazine wants us to do round two! This involves creating and posting something spectacular, and there is loads of inspiration from last years videos!
You can post up to THREE entries on your club Instagram or Facebook account (tag CHECC and the Descent!). Please ensure no nudity, no copyright problems, no damage to caves, and that the video is something completely new. Prizes TBA.
2 - SONG COMPETITION
Us cavers are known for having a seemingly endless list of melodies! I want you guys to come up with a brand new caving song, winner gets to perform at big CHECC!
Profanity and vulgarity permitted, but obviously nothing offensive.
Bonus points if you make a music video or create your own backtrack. Prizes TBA.
3 - DIGGING COMPETITION
This is my magnum opus. I want you guys to do a write up/handout/whatever form you prefer on a current dig your club is undertaking, or a prospective dig your club is planning. I am looking for passion, inspiration and effort here, and we have loads of digging buckets and rope to donate to the winners! Pretty open to interpretation, leaving it up to you guys - don't want to be accused of assigning homework!
4 - COSTUME COMPETITION
Whichever club has the best costume wins bed nights - good luck!
5 - CLEANING COMPETITION
At the end of the weekend, whichever club puts in the biggest shift for cleaning the venue will receive bed nights too - scrubadubdub
6 - IN PERSON COMPETITIONS
All the classics, some not so classics. To be announced on the night really. Prizes TBA.
