Good evening diggers,
In order to (over?)engineer the entrance to a new cave we've just dug into, I recently acquired a job lot of three large (1000mm internal diameter, 2.5m long) double-reinforced concrete tubes, with a bit of damage in places. They were free off Facebook Marketplace, but transporting them back to the yard was a bit of a faff on. We've found the most practical way to do anything with them is to cut them into ~750mm long rings with a stihlsaw, which can fit in the back of a pickup and be rolled on level-ish ground by two or three people. Any less than that and the concrete cracks up, any more and you need a machine to move them.
We have used what we need for our project (details in next issue of Descent!) so if they are any use to anyone else for dig engineering please get in touch.
Cheers,
Chris
