CREG Journal Issue 135 (September 2026) Now Published. It is online at https://bcra.org.uk/cregj. Paper copies will be mailed this week.
Summary of Contents: This issue includes articles on photography, surveying, data-logging, and more. The headline article is a beginner's guide to cave photography using a smartphone. For surveyors, there is a follow-up to the article in the last issue on the open-source project for a shoulder-mounted lidar mapping system. An open-source real-time cave datalogger with telemetry is described, with details on how the data is processed using SQL queries to run statistics to understand data reliability and trends such as daily average, linear regression and correlation coefficients. An open-source submersible fluorometer is described for carrying out hydrographical flow-path mapping and analysis. Cave radio is not forgotten, with a look back at some interference cancellation techniques from the last century. The journal also takes a look back at John Rabson, who died recently and who was former editor and long-time contributor to the CREG Journal

CREG is The British Cave Research Association's special interest group for cave radio and electronics but, recently, CREG has broadened its remit to cover other aspects of cave technology, including surveying and photography. A list of contents, and brief descriptions of the articles in the present issue can be found at https://bcra.org.uk/cregj. The CREG journal is available online and on paper. Annual subscriptions and single back-issues can be ordered. If your online subscription has expired, you will find out when you try to log in.
