Croesor Mine (Not through trip)

When visiting Croesor yesterday we turned right at the top of the incline instead of left. This let us too a traverse and then to multiple tyroleans. I can't find any information about this online but somebody must know something I can't imagine those 5 steel cables magically appeared in the mine. Returning today to attempt the through challenge as we heard from a small group on exit yesterday there are rumours the boat is missing.

Yes, there is a route starting as you describe that crosses the big shaft at the top of the incline some way up, then does at least one more traverse before dropping back to the more traditional route.

The boat is there just got out the ground, requires bailing out but is brilliant

Hi Chris, I think we must have gone a different route it definitely didn't drop back down to the traditional through route, we found some artifacts that had been left, there was 4 or 5 Tyrolean traverses, we did descend down to the lower level after the third tyrolean and found what I thought was the bridge of death but it definitely wasn't and was sign posted not to be touched. To clarify at the top of the pitch we went right, around the traverse, up the scree slope. At the top we banked left into a traverse/descent through a window (through the shaft behind the gate at the top of the first slope of the entrance adit) and then this followed through to multiple Tyroleans ending on questionable Rigging. At the "end" of the Tyroleans and traverses there was a adit disappearing with a smiley face spray painted onto it but there were no more anchors in situ for us to get too it. When doing the through route today and looking up the slopes we couldn't see any of the traverses we did yesterday which leads me to believe it's not the high through route

If you visit BuddlePit - specifically the Library or Armchair Mine Explorer, you will be able to find a survey. Then you can see where you went.

It's difficult to be certain from your description but it sounds like you were going the correct way for the high level traverse.

However when you get to the tyrolean (4th I think) with the sign saying not to touch that bridge then what you are supposed to do is - surprise, surprise - not touch that bridge but go in the opposite direction. There's a short tunnel, another tyrolean and then you follow a ledge to the left to an abseil that takes you back down to the ordinary route.

From there you should have another abseil down a slope which leads you to the zip line over a pool.
