DCA/ BCA social BBQ - Saturday the 27th June

Hi all,

On the evening of Saturday the 27th June Derbyshire Caving Association is hosting a social BBQ at Magpie mine, Sheldon, Nr Bakewell, DE45 1QU.
Tickets are £5 - bring your own booze!

This is to coincide with the BCA AGM the following morning, but the BBQ is also open to cavers that can't attend the AGM. Families welcome!

It is looking to be a good event with lots of lovely cavers attending!

There is still accommodation available - hostel style at Magpie and the Orpheus and also camping available.

Found, after the bbq. Could belong to the Mansfield ghost inspectors who turned up in the wee hours with their shrill “Aztec death whistle” to summon the spirits of the dead miners?!?


Or a caver has just left it on the wall by the stone stile into the Pdmhs garden at magpie mine?

Agreed. It was a lovely evening catching up with folks. Great food, perfect weather, occasional cooling bursts of water to the lower back.
Thanks to everyone who helped facilitate it.

Thanks DCA for organizing! We had a lovely time.
Best bit was walking into the kitchen to find Freddie (aged 8) armed with a water gun, whilst two adult cavers held mugs of water over his head and explained the principle of mutually assured destruction
