Disposing of old cylinders

I have a few old 12ltr and 3ltr diving cylinders clogging up my garage - they are probably at least a decade out of test/last use - don't know if anyone wants them (Mendip based) or what is the best way to scrap them - googling seems to recommend specialist recycling contractors who charge to dispose of your cylinders - any suggestions?

When they fail tests the testers usually cuts them in half to prevent further use. If well cared for they will last for years. Need to be stored vertically and half empty. We were using tadpoles into the early 70's and those were low pressure O2 ex RAF from the last war! Depends if you want to take the risk of getting them tested as it is not cheap nowadays.

If they are steel, I'll happily take them off you for welding projects (or continued use if they look OK inside).
I'll be on Mendip at some point (or two or three) before 5th January.

I have 4 x 12ltr steel and one each of Al and steel 3ltr. I am at home ( near Mendip) now but off up to London for weekend but back till Sunday. If you can collect today/tomorrow otherwise next week. Will have to be collection as my car is going in for major "surgery" so will not be able to transport cylinders. Let me know and I'll pm you my address, it's in wrington near Burrington combe
