Have a relatively unused Disto-X310 seems a shame not too convert it.

What are peoples experience of using the XBLE board? Is there anyone with stock in the UK?

Has anyone bought a board from "cavedevice"? is it subject to extra custom duties outside the EU?

I've used them - they're pretty good and Siwei is a good guy. I wouldn't want to comment on methods of getting around paying import duty.......

However a word of warning - there are two different types of X310 as they redesigned the laser module. The XBLE board is only compatable with the new version (with the shorter laser board) as the ribbon cable on the older version is too thick. I destroyed a number of the older versions of the X310 trying to convert them and never managed to do it sucsessfully.

Feel free to post a photo of the inside of the X310 and I'll tell you what version it is.

Also I seem to remember the XBLE only being compatable with the very latest version of topodroid and this not being available on the Android play store. But that might have changed now.

Don't currently have the screwdriver to open it up but having just checked the S/N looks like it's an old one starts 0850

I guess the other option is canablising a Disto X2 which has a damaged laser/buttons.

I just got back from a weekend of cave survey where the primary device was an XBLE. Was a very successful outcome, with a calibration done there results seemed pretty consistent, and the battery life was fine. Didn't notice any real difference to previous surveys with a DistoX2. Run with Topodroid on a Lenovo One 8 inch tablet
