The o-ring seal for the cap is also a common cause of problems. It needs occasional lubrication so that the cap makes a good electrical contact with the case.
^ I’ve ‘fixed’ two of my HM65R’s by just adding a tiny amount of silicone grease to the cap o-ring. Johnny at Inglesport recommended it and I was skeptical given the random faults I was having, but it does work.
They’re a few years old now and get used everyday for walking to dog. Work like new.

Were you having charging/ brightness issues? Mine seems to not charge up fully and lose light quickly. Also have had issues with it not wanting to switch off after it's gotten wet.
My batteries would charge reliably in an external charger (Nitecore d4), but intermittently in the light head. The cal is part of the charging circuit so possibly part of the issue.
The head itself was also not working properly. Not sure if this was a result of it not charging properly as above or a dodgy contact in the cap.
I totally flooded one doing rotten sumps with the charging port cap open. Faulty initially but fixed after a week on a radiator.
Finally got round to sending mine off to Fenix after it playing up after various wet trips..I had already tried the sealant trick. They are turning things around within a few days at the moment.

I've been using the HM61R V2.0 for quite a few years now, and despite frequent periods of exposure to fairly squalid conditions, find they are very reliable (kiss of death there? ). However, whilst they can be charged 'through the lamp head' via a magnetic-ended charging cable, I found that this never gave the charge capacity I was getting from using a 'quality' external charger. Eventually gave up using the supplied cable and now always remove the batteries to charge them.
