I got offered a discount on a Spanset IRATA course after entering a competition on UKCaving. During the week I was there I got talking to the Training Manager and Wardy from this forum about a freelance training position. A few months later I started my training with them and now, almost exactly 2 years on, I'm still working as a freelance trainer at their Middlewich site and loving it. I know this is an advert for someone more down south and not at the Middlewich site, so it will be different from my work with them, but I'd highly recommend dropping them and email for a chat if you're based down that way. They are a really nice bunch of people and it is a friendly modern company to work for. This work fits perfectly around my outdoor instructing life, in fact the busy seasons seem to be at opposite ends of the year which means no more quiet (unemployed) outdoor instructor winters for me. The pay is pretty good too TBH. If you are happy in front of people and working with ropes and vertical gear already, then it is not a big leap over to teaching this type of course content. Well worth an email to them.
