So this popped up on the BMC newsletter and it got me wondering whether something like this might be beneficial for the caving community, since caving is similar to indoor climbing (maybe a little colder, thrutchier, wetter, and darker!)? I know my 'expressiveness' has lead others to wrongly assume I wasn't having a good time in the past. Interested to hear your thoughts. Perhaps something like this already exists? Could be a future CNCC/CSCC workshop?

We were talking around this the other day. Is there sometimes a view that cavers go caving and its automatically welcoming therfore no need for awareness around diversity? Unfortunately I think that can sometimes mean that some people don't get past their first caving trip and there may be more people that could cave if adjustments were made?
I think your workshop idea is a good one, particularly if it was led by people with lived experience rather than a corporate company.
I struggle with severe anxiety at times, so that's always been a barrier to joining in with bigger clubs and events, it also means sometimes people in my club have at times given me extra support in a variety of scenarios. Without that would I have continued caving, possibly not?

It is open to non members for an extra £20. Does seem to be the first one they've run:

Shame it’s down in brizzle else I’d be popping along to it and using it, the syllabus looks very interesting.

I’ve attended other fundamentals courses through BMC and they’ve been great. Think it’s a really smart way of encouraging consistency of delivery across the UK.

Previous articles (these have link to free mental health first aid manual):

Also various about benefits of walking for mental health, plus (first is - Snail's Pace: Coping With Being the Slowest Person on the Hill):
(Last could be any activity...)

I have no idea what happened to rest of series, as search doesn't bring anything up and not dated:

There are also She Climbs programmes in various countries inc. UK
