• Help us work out the future of the Inglesport Café

We've been trading since 1977 and next year will be our 50th anniversary.

The café has been part of that for a long time, running quietly in the background for years, and we don't think it always gets the credit it deserves as a genuine community hub. But we need to be straight with you: the café is under real pressure, and we’re not sure of the best path forward.....

Good morning from a very chilly moortop.
Many entrances are now rigged:
Flood/Wades
Bar
Small Mammal
Corkys
Stream
South East Aven

We're off to go down Stream later.

The weather has been very cold with the northerly wind, some heavy showers, thunder yesterday evening. Fell Beck is still low, though. All is looking good (weather permitting) for the weekend and next week's climb of Gee Gee Rider. Hoping to see some of you up here.

Thanks, I'll be up to test your ropes/rigging Sat 23rd

I've not been to a BPC winch meet before. Can cavers ask politely for a cup of tea in exchange for donating chocky biscuits, like at CPC in the Summer?

Just checking that the pre rigged routes can be used from this weekend ? Hoping to get up there Sunday 16th if that’s the case 🤞

Another cold day, but dry so far. A couple of visiting parties: Stream to Bar and in and out of Stream (off to the Berger later this year). Almost everything is now rigged, except Disappointment. Corky's, Marilyn and Echo Rift added.

Cold and damp up here at the moment. Hoping for better weather tomorrow. I bumped into people earlier who were going to rig Diss

Did the Disappointment riggers find the left pantin?

The diss riggers lost the pantin…

Hi.
Based on the rainfall over the last couple of days can anyone provide guidance whether Marilyn will be doable later this afternoon? Planning on walking up for a trip later today and thinking about small mammal / bar to Marilyn. Only been in once before (stream to small mammal) and know little about the flood risk beyond the reputation the bar is pretty much weather resistant.
Thanks in advance.

Marilyn itself is OK in wettish conditions (it's an abandoned aven system dropping into Disappointment Pot).
I would expect the bottom part of Disappointment Pot will be atmospheric but doable; it's not been that wet. (There was some re-rigging of the lower pitches done in the latter a year or two ago, taking the ropes a bit further away from the water.) Hensler's Crawl from near the bottom of Bar Pot towards the master cave will be fine today.

The forecast (as I type) is for early showers but generally drying up as the day progresses, so it should be a falling water levels situation. Even if something meteorologically dire happens whilst you're underground the worst case scenario is you to turn back and surface via Bar Pot or Small Mammal Pot. Obviously check the most recent forecast before heading under't sod - and be guided by the opinions of those Bratf'd members in camp.

Great trip today - thanks for the advice and to BCP for rigging everything & allowing others to use the ropes. We went down Bar Pot to Main Chamber, then retraced our steps back to the bottom of Big Pitch. New Henslers Crawls, then a wander down Henslers Streamway, out via Disappointment & Marilyn. A couple of our holiday snaps...
