Hi fellow cavers,
As per last year, this year’s Gaping Gill Winch Meet will be a pre-booked event.
Public Winching Dates are 14th to 21st August 2026
Tickets will go on sale from 1st July at 10.00am , and will ONLY be available through the CPC website: Cost is same as last year at £30.00
https://www.cravenpotholeclub.org
Please be aware that any offers of tickets from third-party outlets or secondary sellers are scams and will NOT be valid.
If you’d like to use the winch to descend for a caving trip, we recommend booking as soon as possible—tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
We recommend that you have all your information at hand along with your payment method as tickets may sell out if you delay processing your information and payment. (“Adding to basket” only secures them for a short time)
For those caving in via other entrances and who are unable to exit a rigged pitch there will be limited opportunities to return via the winch, for a £10 cash fee. This option is not suitable for large groups, and we ask for your patience as we will prioritise members of the public in these cases.
** New for 2026 **
Early Bird uplift - Be at the Chair in the main chamber early and get a lift out for £5.00
9.00am - 9.30am (Except Saturday which is 8.00am - 8.30am)
(Be aware that water levels and mechanical issues can prevent us running so make sure you have an alternative exit plan in place)
As in previous years, the main “trade” entrances will be rigged—and we hope to have some of the less “trade” ones rigged as well. Suitably experienced cavers are very welcome to make use of these free of charge.
Routes will be available from 10th Aug - 21st Aug (I will endeavour to update in real time)
More caver details to follow nearer the time, (including the promo code for a brew on the fell !!) this is just to help with longer term planning.
Kind regards,
Ian Patrick
