Ghar Parau relaxes application criteria in response to Covid-19

In recognition of the uncertain times we live in and their impact on grant applications for caving expeditions to take place in 2021 the Ghar Parau Foundation committee have agreed to relax some of the criteria for 2021 applications and take a more lenient view than normal.

The criteria being relaxed are for the dates of the expedition to occur in 2021 and also a detailed list of expedition personnel. An approximation for each will be accepted.

However that does not excuse sloppy applications. The objectives of the expedition, references and other back up information necessary for the committee to evaluate the application need to be as good as can be reasonably expected and if not the grant award will be reduced accordingly. GPF is a charitable concern and as such certain basic standards must be adhered to.

GPF Committee hope that the relaxation of the above criteria will encourage more applications from UK cavers in 2021, even if there is a vagueness to timing and expedition size.

Will Ghar Parau consider relaxing the Alex pitcher maximum age in light of covid.

Not only will those who could have been going on their first foreign expedition this year or next mids out, but I imagine with the state of the economy and job market for young people in the next few years that getting abroad for caving under the age of 22 will just not happen.

Happy to take the discussions off-forum, but I saw it on here and it reminded me that I?d meant to contact GP about this anyway!

Cheers
Josh
