Goyden Pot Rockfall

Just a heads up. was down t'other night and noticed a block of about 3/4 ton had dropped off the wall at the very top of the main chamber. Also a lot of smaller material has been washed out from between the boulders of the floor of the Main Chamber. Always happens on the big floods, for instance a large chunk of the Big Window ending up beneath the Bridge, and a very large section of wall peeling off upstream of sump 1 a few years ago. For some reason there is not as much sediment being washed into the system as there has been over the last 20 years or so I've been going there.

Interesting what you say about less sediment going into the system wonder if that is connected with why the system is backing up less in floods.  :-\

Seems so. Has any of the Harkers or Churchs mentioned if New Goyden is resurging less

Surprisingly despite the rain it was not resurging today. The first pitch was certainly damp, the second was doable, but the main stream looked deadly.

Did you see how much was going down Goyden entrance? Rough CUMECS, ta Alex.
I'm begining to wonder if the shingle blockage in downstream New Goyden has been washed out. Been enough water for the last couple of years.

Sorry did not see how much was going down Goyden, and we diverted the water after a bit. I can show you how much water was going through the diversion if that helps.

Water going down Goyden was above the tree that is in the river bed leading to the entrance. Airspace above the water well visible. River in New Goyden was only just traversable with care a couple more inches and it would be impassable.

Reckon it needs to be up a fair bit more to be sure. Be interesting what's happening down Frog in those conditions. Probably not far off backing up from the main river passage and overflowing through Toad Hall.
