• Help us work out the future of the Inglesport Café

We've been trading since 1977 and next year will be our 50th anniversary.

The café has been part of that for a long time, running quietly in the background for years, and we don't think it always gets the credit it deserves as a genuine community hub. But we need to be straight with you: the café is under real pressure, and we’re not sure of the best path forward.....

Guyana 1976

I have been asked to track down a caver who visited Kumerau Cave in Guyana in 1976. She is Helen Sergeant and she wrote an article on it that appeared in the February 1977 BCRA Bulletin 15, p. 12. Or anyone else who was on that expedition.

AI says:
Helen Sergeant (also spelled Sargeant) is a British caver and active member of the Red Rose Cave & Pothole Club. She has contributed to the caving community through explorations, botanical identification in cave environments, and written documentation.

She's also mentioned in two articles (about France and Spain) in may 2020 newsletter and another in Spring 2024, and once (again as Sargent) in September 2018, each time in company with Jim Davis (AI actually includes "She is often associated with other long-standing members like Jim Davis.")
