I remember mooching over the site back in 1979. Great enthusiasm back then for the development of a sure winner, which has subsequently turned out to be somewhat over-hyped. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Great news! It doesn't seem like a very significant amount of money, particularly if there wasn't enough commercial interest from investors? I can see the benefit in terms of securing our own critical minerals, don't get me wrong, but if it was commercially viable it would have been invested in already, wouldn't it?

£71 million is a useful start, even if the re-industrialisation agenda is a but fuzzy. I hope the Government realises it is a gamble and another £100 million will be needed in due course.

I have long thought that the problem with metal mining in the UK is that we are not as good Capitalists as the Chinese Communists.

The previous effort went bust when they were not getting good separation due to the mineral composition being wrongly identified .

The slightly sad thing is that it clearly needs government support to be viable. It would be better in my opinion if the government removed mandatory pointless expenditure so it became viable without support.

The Government is supporting it it with £71 Million !
