There are now two ladders of both likely to be older than me that enable access to the blowhole and the passages beyond. I was wondering which entrance they had been take in through.

You say there are two iron ladders. I have only ever known of the one used to access the Blowhole. This is the ladder to which I referred.

The current ladder is made from two ladders though is it not? I am pretty sure the rungs end up 2 deep once half way up. It might be one ladder climb but the actual ladder is made from 2 ladders I think, so I guess that's the same with the old one?

Yes, it should have read Hensler's Series not Hensler's Heroes. Bugger. Hardly matters anyway to the main thrust of my initial question, which was what year the iron ladder collapsed. I see from earlier posts from way back that perhaps it didn't. It appears it was simply reinforced to cope with the increased traffic at the time of the GG to IC link up.

A propos of nothing much, last summer I met Hensler's grandson who is a wood carver in Devon

My understanding is that it collapsed during the early 80s (I'd guess 1982; Ged Benn could probably tell you easily) and was reinforced / repaired by strapping an extra section to it.

There is a bit in the 2nd GG connection film referring to this.

It's really Hensler's Passage (not "Series").

Thanks to our extremely efficient CNCC, it seems likely that a completely new replacement will be provided in the not too distant future.

'Hensler's Heroes'? Sounds like it could be an underground resistance group. Leading the fight against awkward digs and troublesome chokes.
