Thank you everyone for an absolutely fantastic and record breaking weekend! 🥰

We hope that everyone who attended had a great time. There were excellent lectures and workshops, a vibrant trade hall and excellent beer. Officially the best attended Hidden Earth ever with over 900 delegate days. We're set to do it all again next year - back at Llangollen - and break more records.

We'd love to see your photos and experiences of the weekend - share below ⬇️⬇️

Can I echo the thanks to the team? An event like this takes a huge effort over months, almost certainly all by a handful of amazing people. Thanks to them I can rock up on Saturday morning, enjoy two brilliant days of entertainment and then drive off mid-Sunday afternoon leaving the same handful of people to continue clearing up behind me. These same amazing people will now have weeks of refunds, invoices and complaints to deal with before starting all over again in another month's time. I am hugely grateful ... thank you to each and every one of you.

Further many thanks to the organizers for the excellent party weekend as ever; dealing with even a dozen cavers is a nightmare in cat-herding so dealing with 400+ is, I'm sure, a challenge :)

Also this year I suspect the organizers had great difficulty deciding where to put talks, as there were very few that plenty of people didn't want to see!

I went to (I think) 9 talks in lecture theatre 3, supposedly the home of the 'less popular' talks, and only one of them wasn't packed with people squeezing into the room and in some cases giving up and going away because it wasn't possible to squeeze more people into the room.
I went to 4 talks in lecture theatre 2 (which could do with the screen lifting higher, even if that made it smaller, so you could see the whole thing from more than a few rows back) and only one talk in lecture theatre 1, so obviously I have odd taste in talks or something :P

I think you might be understating the point somewhat given our past discussions in bureaucratic minutiae 😂

It was a fantastic event and really do appreciate all the work people put in. Announcing next year's so far advance has been really helpful - I've had a few more international people express interest with definite dates.

Good point, I agree.

I wonder if there would be scope for using some of the 'Trade Hall Extension" for talks? I mean the grass area under the lower canvas roof. Last year it wasn't covered, and I assume this year it was only covered because other users have/will required it. If it's covered next year, and it's possible to screen an area off on the far side, that might work as a lecture room.

I thought the same and was going to suggest it. Might involve some expense covering the floor and ??sound proofing but I am sure there are some events that might be suitable to go in there. I think it is a great venue. The new management need to get their catering act together though. And how long is there going to be cheap/free beer on the Sunday afternoon when the word gets out?!

Excellent event as always, but I have to wonder there's a big globe outside the venue, it's not very hidden is it? It needs a tarp being thrown over it lol.
