Announcing HE (wide).png

Thank you to everyone who attended Hidden Earth 2026. It was a great event and officially the biggest ever! 🥳

We're pleased to announce that Hidden Earth is returning to Llangollen in 2027 following overwhelming positive feedback on the venue! We should also have a much larger lecture theatre available too 🤞

Save the date! 24-27 September 2027

A special thank you to all our amazing volunteers who worked all weekend to keep things running. Tech, admin, trade hall, bar - there's a lot to do and our team always step up to bring it all together. 🥰

Excellent it was a great time. Just an option for the future but like NAHMO perhaps some field trips would be good? I know that's weird caving at Hidden earth lol, but it could be an added interest if some Welsh cavers want to lead trips. What better way to get introduced to an area if you have never been. If it ever comes back to Yorkshire I would happily volunteer to lead a few but I don't know North Wales that well.

I had not been to HE since 2011 in Monmouth. I really enjoyed myself. Great venue, lovely location and great facilities and the advances in technology was evident in the quality of the presentations. Second Alex's suggestion. Perhaps some trips on the Friday?

It's possible.
It would require a volunteer to come forward, take the idea on and make it happen.

Alex,

Give me a shout closer to the time and we can arrange to do something for the Friday day-time perhaps?

It won't be an official Hidden Earth trip like NAMHO do, but happy to play out beforehand :-)

Would love to, prob is getting time off, normally used all my holidays by this time of year.

Anyone is welcome to come up with ideas for aditional things to do, and if you're willing to own it and make it happen, Hidden Earth will support you! The issue usually isn't money or having more things running, its people to run them.

It would be great to get the surveying loop closure competition back so if you're reasonably competent at surveying and would like to take on the task please get in touch with the team (or directly with me). It would require you to set a course around the site and be on-hand with a laptop to process peoples results.

Underground trips are something that has not really been done before and I suppose COULD happen but it would be a big task for someone to take on. Again, we're open to the option.

UKC would support this with a decent prize if the surveying loop closure competition were to be revived if that helps.
I will not be taking part though as I am utter rubbish at surveying, only ever liked to hold the target - Badlad despaired 🤣🤣
