Hidden Earth England v Wales

Just looking at the rugby world cup fixtures and see that England are playing Wales at 8pm on Saturday 26 September. I think this would be awesome on a big screen at hidden earth with both sides well represented and a well stocked bar, any one else agree?
Is there any chance of this happening or will we need to go find a local pub?

Most Mendip local pubs just about manage to procure a functioning light bulb or dismal array of second hand beer mats. The likelihood of finding one with a functioning telly is remote.

Queen Vic now has their telly set up in the tack room and they love their Rugby.
A call ahead would ensure they are planning to show the match and the room is free from diners.
QV is walking distance from the main caving huts; what's not to like :)

Yup - I'm aware of that :)
The observation I was responding to was about the lack of facilities in Mendip pubs.

I think the OP's suggestion is a good one, but I guess it all comes down to the timings between the match and what is happening at the conference at that time.

Dissagree, find a local pub if you like rugby. Hidden Earth is for those who enjoy caving.

Oh dear, we had better ban the bar as well! We can't have people enjoying themselves doing anything other than chatting about caving. Drinking is just a distraction

Actually, the organisers have done a very good job over the years providing the right environment. If they think providing the means to watch some rugby is a good idea, then I trust their judgement. If they don't, then fine as well. Shall we leave it for them to think about, now someone has planted the seed of an idea?

It's unlikely I'll be attending this year, unless I can pull some strings at work, so largely irrelevant. But thought I'd chip in anyway and no even if I was going it would hold no interest for me!
I'd suggest it was all about demand; if enough people register interest in watching it then maybe it could be arranged.  Does the school have an aerial (assuming it's on terrestrial) or will it be available via streaming?

No expert, me, but if people are paying for entry to an event and it is scheduled that during the event there will be live streaming of a TV rugger match, doesn't some kind of licensing need to be invoked?

If so that'll surely bugger the rugger.

I wasn't suggesting it was compulsary, I'm sure there will be lectures that you have no interest in attending as well but as i remember the place is pretty big and there will be a fair few projectors etc lying around doing nothing at that point.
I personally find there is a bit of a lull around saturday evening if you are not going to the meal and last time we walked to Goatchurch so I'm not sure what the local pubs are like. Something like this may keep more people on site that will then go straight into the stomp afterwards (oh no - music isn't caving related!)
I'd have thought there would be a few people interested in this but licencing and  a suitable space may prove tricky so i'll google the local pubs as well.
