Howard Beck's new Gaping Gill system book

I've not had time to take more than a quick look, but first impressions are that it's a beautifully-produced book – a credit to Howard, Wild Places and everyone else involved in its production.

I picked up mine at Hidden Earth, although haven't read any of it yet. The book is fairly substantial (weighty little thing), and has a nice premium feel to it with quality paper plus being a hardback and even a little ribbon to mark your spot!

I didn't attend Hidden Earth but was surprised to receive my copy in the post on Saturday morning. I have read the first section and its brilliant, its a credit to Howard and Wild Places for the quality of publication. My only bad comment is the size of the writing as I struggle to read it so can only read a section at a time before my eyes hurt. Before anybody says, my eye prescription is up to date, got new reading glasses last week.

I too have new glasses, which have magnification of 1.5 for reading, but I still find the font size is too small and have to rest after reading a few pages.

However, having browsed through the book, it is still going to be an excellent read

I guess someone has to say: "Should've gone to Specsavers"? :ROFLMAO:

On a more sensible note, I need glasses for reading and can read the text alright.
Guess where my glasses came from? ;)

It's a lovely book that reminds me of NFTFH for quality. I haven't finished reading it yet, but what I have read reads well. Excellent value and highly recommended.

I must have just missed the last Inglesport copy being sold - I clicked "add to basket" and it didn't. I've ordered from Wild Places, they have plenty. I didn't want to miss out - there's a chance there's a photo of me in it, dangling on Dihedral.

I just got my copy. I've not had time to read much yet, but it's clear that this is a meticulously researched, well-written, up-to-date and comprehensive account that is unlikely ever to be rivalled. And as you would expect from a book published by Chris Howes and Judith Calford, its standard of production is very high indeed. It's filled with superb photos and clear surveys, and printed on high quality paper. This makes it quite a bargain at £25 including UK shipping. Needless to say, it would make an ideal Christmas gift. Warm congrats to all concerned.
