Ice caves of Marbore, Gavarnie

Does anyone have any knowledge of the ice caves above Gavarnie?

There is a book: Gavarnie : Les Grottes glacées du Marboré par P. Bernand et M. Van Thienen

Does anyone have copy they might be willing to part with?

The expert on Grotte Casteret was David St. Pierre, who compiled a pretty definitive booklet on the cave in 2007, "BCRA Cave Studies Series 17". This includes a number of surveys. It is available for downloading from here.

The cave actually has three entrances - the main one is on the Brêche Roland side, and the passage runs through to an eastern entrance 200 metres away. The third is a 50 metre shaft that drops into the main passage half way along. The western entrance wasn't gated when we first entered it, and I don't know whether they have gated the other two entrances.

I do have a copy of "les Grottes Glacées du Maborée, but not one I want to part with.

I went out with the Happy Wanderers in 1965. I can scan a copy of our Report if of interest. DM me.
Obviously a bit out of date. Plus a load of images.
