Ideas for fitting a fenix HP30R to a boreo helmet

Spaniel on crack

Hey i have a fenix HP30R light that has a battery pack and wire. I am finding it tricky to find a solution that would work with a boreo helmet

The best solution we have come up with is sewing a pocket into the undersuit and putting it there

The photo shows why the usual on the back solution wont work.

Thanks in advance

The charging port etc looks very vulnerable as it’s not a caving lamp as such. You’ll need to keep it clean and away from scrapy rocks. Inside your suit imo is the best option, under your armpit so as not to increase chest width. I bruised my ribs once on a rather solid kitkat chunky in my chest pocket!

Can you zip tie the battery to the head torch strap and route the wire inside the helmet? Or is the battery pack too heavy?

I like bodging and fixing things, but cave lights are just too important to compromise on.

Get something else that works.

My experience of connectors like that are that they’re utter dogshit for caving and fail pretty quickly (even if protected inside the cradle of an ecrin roc).

Allegedly* you can remove the cradle of a boreo and drill holes in for cable ties and routing of wire between the foam and the shell.

*Obviously I would never do this or recommend this due to it being PPE 🤥

Realistically, I’d sack off the idea and get an all in one fenix type headtorch that everyone seems to have nowadays anyway.
