In-situ rope partially removed from Fall Pot, Easegill

On a recent trip to Fall Pot, it was found that the in-situ rope for the SRT alternative to the handline climb in Fall Pot has been partially removed (presumably due to being worn out). The traverse approach to the pitch is still in place, but the first part of the hang is missing, and that leaves the section below the rebelay in-situ on a single bolt, leading to nowhere if you’re ascending. i.e. The middle section is missing.
If anyone’s heading there soon, the lower (one bolt wonder) section needs removing, and/or the whole thing needs a new in-situ rope (probably about 25m needed).

I heard it was cut out because it was cored/coreshot (never have been sure of the correct terminology) but that it wasn't tied in to the adjacent rope anyway.

If true, this would suggest that even in an easily-accessible and much-visited system the community cannot maintain a fixed SRT rope without it becoming so dangerous it had to be removed by a passerby.

I don't even see the need for a fixed rope here; its impossoble to prussic out without pre-rigging the nearby Lancs entrance. If you like fixed ropes there is the handline alternative.

I think it's preferable to remove the rope and leave it clean

That climb is bloody slippery it needs a rope, one fall and your probbably going down that hole nearby which I think goes down to the stream. It's asking for a call out too if a party can't climb it, as you say Ian people pre-rig Lanc by dropping a rope down, go in County/Wretched expect to do the traverse and can't get up it. Yes there's an alternative route but that also requires up ropes (though climbable if competent) but that's not accessible if the streams up. Also the rope on Stake pot needs replacing too, knotted rope climbs with a massive drop is not a good idea either, again slippery as heck so an accident is likely the way it is/it's a pain in the arse if you prussic past or absail past the knots. Was planning to replace this (Stake) myself at some point.

In general, I really don't understand the need for knotted rope handlines on a route that is an SRT route, just have SRT rope not any of this handline crap over big drops on very slippery rock and rope.

It's nice having them as handline climbs as for some of my favourite easegill trips (cape Kennedy and wilf Taylors)you can leave your srt kit at the bottom of lancs and not suffer wearing it underground.

The climb alternative has a handline and an srt line if I remember correctly. So can be done as srt if you don't fancy the climb.

Wouldn't a set of fixed ladders solve this problem entirely ,

I am relatively sure the in situ SRT rope you are referring to was removed last Sunday after it was spotted Saturday evening.
