Information wanted about poppy passage

I’m struggling to find any information about poppy passage in Notts 2 online and I’m wondering if anyone has any information on it. Is it there and back?is there a route description of how to get there? Is there any extra tackle needed?

James Carlisle, if he's on here is your man. Suffice to say it's absolutely horrible, I think it's just a long duck with exploration possibly still going on beyond but it's really REALLY grim from what James has told me, so he enjoyed it :)

Hi,
To answer your questions, yes it is a there and back trip with no additional tackle required(wet suit and hood optional;)) Follow the survey, it's straight foreward enough.
Would advise not to go if it's been wet or going to be. Best visited after a spell of dry weather.
The section just after you leave the ducks and get into the dry stuff has a tendency to silt up between trips and may need digging.

Summer trip then?

A full write up is in RRCPC JOURNAL NO 10
Be warned the "Pincers " is a duck with Projections (hence called Pincers )to grab onto clothing one person ripped an oversuit trying to get out !!!This bit also silts up and may need excavating +may be a case to hammer the projections off

I did it a couple of years ago as an after work jolly. It was my first ‘long duck’ and I bought a hood specifically for it. Shame I forgot my wellies and used my walking boots instead! I’d make a guess the waterlogged bit is around 30m or so of face to the ceiling stuff and my hood flooded. O iwould guess there was 50mm of air at the pincers and 75mm for the rest. I didn’t think it was that bad really. The pincers were not tight, just low cieling. I’m sure it was dug out during exploration.
The worst bit for me was flipping over on exit coming out when my hood and ears were full of water and my brain didn’t know what to make of it and I nearly threw up. Ear plugs next time!
I was also in a neofleece. It is not a warm place on the other side but yes there are leads of the upturned melon barrel variety!

The Stairway to Henry’s lead (as shown on the survey), looks extremely close to bigger space. The Notts to Notts 2 trip via Poppy Passage would be an absolute cracker!

I'd say wetsuit and hood are necessary, the pincers are bigger underwater so it is a genuine 'duck' to get through, as if it was a very short sump. The lead on the far side is up a climb and I think we decided it needs capping. It's not a long trip, but the damp section does go on a bit... I think we went in September, don't think I'd fancy it in this weather 🥶

The middle lead is a climb up a rift (rope ladders in place) which leads to a capped too tight rift. More capping required on this one 🥶
Either side of this are tubes with endless cobble dispensers (as described by Loki).

It's an intimidating place, especially at the start and when you first see the Pincers, but actually quite comfortable as prolonged ducks go. When water levels are low there is enough airspace to keep your face mostly dry, and for most of its length the water isn't particularly deep so you can stop and lie down for a rest. I'm sure I did it in a furry undersuit at least once, but a neofleece is better. And definitely some sort of balaclava/hood.
