Is Pridhamsleigh a private cave

Morning all,

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I'm new to the area and have been looking for new caves to explore and have noticed that there are a few in Devon where you have to get a tour or contact the land owner and I wanted to check if there is anyone I need to contact before turning up?

Best wishes,
Cat

Anybody can visit Pridhamsleigh but the farmer charges a fee to cross his apple orchard to reach the cave. You can put the money down a little chute at the stile into the field. The actual cave is owned by a quarry company and is a SSSI. Quite a maze it is! Close by is Doghole, not so long but that has a gated extension so contact DCUC or DSS regarding access. DCUC and DSS have web pages. Baker's Pit is accessible with a key if you contact DSS and there are some open caves at Chudleigh eg Clifford's Cave, 200m of crawling in a stream.

Thank you so much for your comment, it was very helpful. I am planning to sign DCUC or DSS soon! Never realised that there are so many caves nearby!
