This is what I did; saw no reason for the rebelay so I didn't rig it.

........There isn't a rebelay on the LH route......two long reach spits in the roof/rift give a free hang.
Not sure what the balcony is then, or maybe I didn't even realise I was going a different way. I didn't use the tape rebelay on the sixth pitch described in NFTFH, anyway.
I know of some cavers who just wont clip anything other than an official CNCC anchor ! Rather limiting their caving opportunities.
You know where you are with a spit :) admittedly that's not usually a comforting thought, but at least you *know* it might be crap and rig accordingly.
Mystery anchors that *look* like good anchors but may or may not be is a different thing altogether.

That's very true, but you did the right thing: assessed them and used them anyway in preference to the alternative:)

Also that first hanger is at an interesting angle

Consider what happens in the [unlikely] event of the first section of a traverse line being loaded: where /what direction is the pull on the first anchor? It is the same on the second anchor of course but as soon as you are on the second section the hangers needs to be straight up and down because they can be potentially loaded from either side. Naturally the krab will rotate as required [or the direct tie as illustrated].
However, the first anchor is only loaded in one direction, and it isn't straight down, but at say c40deg ? Precise angle depends on the length of rope between anchors.?

So a 'thinking performer' [term stolen from the HR section at work!] will allow for that when setting that first hanger........;)
