Killarney Mountain Festival

Hey all,

A few folk from the Ario Caves Project went to the inaugural Killarney Mountain Festival last weekend and it was great craic, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
What an amazing venue for a festival, and lots of limestone around too!

The ARIO DREAM film was screened at the festival and it was really brill to see how well received it was by the festival goers and organisers.
It?s times like this when we have people in awe of the sport and the adventures us cavers have, the shock on their faces cause they had no idea, when I feel really delighted this film got made because thats what its about, show casing real caving, cave expeditions, a misunderstood and minority sport and most importantly for me - a sport with team work and relentless dedication at its centre! Expeditions go on for years and years and often end up with 100?s of cavers involved and there really isn?t any thing else quite like it. Those messages were received loud and clear at the festival which is great.

And the ARIO DREAM even won the Grand Prize :)

We will be organising more screenings on the big screen over the coming year and can provide the film for club screenings.

Unfortunately we cannot offer viewings of the film for free as we choose an independent film maker who footed the cost for this film entirely by himself and is still far from covering his costs, nevermind making a living. The expo got sponsored on the back of the film but the filmmaker did not as he wanted the freedom to tell a genuine story unhindered by corporate agendas and I hope that those who support HotAches and buy the film will appreciate that.

Many thanks for everyone?s support thus far
