Going to La Palma soon. Would like to get into a lava tube or two. Any advice about local caving group or finding entrances. Minimal kit, will not take rope or ladder.

Be aware that several people died last year in the tubes, due to being overcome with Co2.....

Take care and be aware of that.... and take good gloves/kneepads its SHARP

The fatal accident was not in a lava tube.  It was in one of the "Gallerias" (I think the spelling is correct) which are man made tunnels driven into the heart of the island in order to extract water.  The entrance to this particular Galleria is in a lava tube, but the deaths occurred a long way into the man made tunnel.

It should be noted that as the Gallerias are driven into an active volcano, they are renowned for pockets of nasty volcanic gases building up in odd places.

do some internet searches. I have done this for canarian sites and found some interesting stuff. Never been to La Palma. The central Caldera is supposed to be really attractive. Alternative just ask the Shepton as they are the volcano kings!
