List of pull-through descents on CNCC anchors

Hi all

I'd like to put together a list of pull-through descents that involve pulling down on the CNCC anchors. This is to assist with a possible project checking anchor wear, as after 30+ years in service some are now getting ready for retirement.

To start us off I have the classics that have been reanchored recently
  • Simpson
  • Swinsto
And a couple that I can remember doing
  • Rowten
  • Pool Sink
We have recently found wear on the following
  • Lost Johns
  • Top Sink
What other locations are used for pull-through descents on the CNCC anchors? Only trips that are actually undertaken please - theoretical or daydream trips don't count as they don't cause any wear.

Cheers,
Ian

Short drop. The short pitch into a small pool before you get near the traverse.

Although it had a big fat galvanised mailion on the most useful bolt the last time I used it. A smaller stainless one would provide something else to wear out instead of the bolt.

I find it a real pain when I encounter a maillon which has been left on a hanger. I have extracted more than a few over the 30 years or so of the CNCC bolting-régime, usually in a very dilapidated state.. I suspect that the main reason for the wear on hangers is the use of unwashed ropes.

It also depends on the relative positions of the bolts as to whether the ropes run through smoothly.

I've pulled through on dollytubs and gone up a pre rigged rope in alum
