Making my own undersuit

A couple months ago (after seeing the ridiculous price of undersuits) I decided to use my mediocre sewing skills and make a tailored and very stylish (in the silliest fleece pattern I could find) undersuit for myself. Only £60 in materials and 10 hours of my time but its worked incredibly well in the couple caves its been in so far! has anyone else made their own?
(If anyone is looking to make their own I'm happy to give any advice too!)

That looks brilliant - well done!

I made a purple suit in Polartec Powerstretch - but it makes me look like Tinky Winky from the Teletubbies :-(
That sounds sick! I do wish I had looked into specific materials; but the fancy ones tend not to have fun patterns (and are not so fun for my budget) - eventually I want to make an oversuit too as I'm disappointed with the lack of colour options!

Oh yeah, that is fantastic!!

What is the barrier to entry to making one's own?
I would recommend having a decent sewing machine (I borrowed my parents when I was home from Uni). Other than that you can kind of bash it together - I have some sewing experience but I did lots of research, made my own pattern from an existing club undersuit (though you can probably just use a 'onesie pattern' or something online), and then altered it as I made it and realised how many errors I had made! (definitely buy more material than you think you need). Getting good materials helped a lot, good fleece, extra strong thread, and a nice chunky zip were great. Reinforcing the seams takes way more thread than you think, I used almost 200m. Watch tons of youtube videos, theres a few very good ones for how to sew zips.
Honestly if you want to do it, you can. It just means there is a bit more trail and error!

My aunt has made a few oversuits - one for herself: (these are the best photos I have of her "modelling" it)

And she's also helped construct oversuits for my son

My son seen here age about 15 months
For reference, I don't actually think cordura is the right thing as an outer layer for tinys at this age. Waterproofing and resistance is more valuable than abrasion resistance, so whilst it looks cute, now he's grown out of it - I think we'll stick to splash suits for now. It was super cute though.

Recently made one of my own.
Very functional, if a bit rough on finish (learning how to put a zip on stretch fabric on the fly took three tries), and there's a few aspects of fit id change in a V2, but till I feel like gumming up my machine twice on fleece fluff again I'll be using this one.

Also like, £40ish of fabric, bit extra for cuffing, zips ect is pretty good since labour costs obviously aren't real when I do it myself.

This is amazing!

I haven't made an under suit, but did make a little drag bag out of fake cordera which is lasting well. I had some left overs so repaired my mates "arse" with it and he had a luminous orange arse for a few trips, but alas it didn't last long, got shredded within a few trips
