Marble Sink

Marble Sink is an old "grudge trip" of mine. Been down it twice and failed to get to the bottom both times. Admittedly the second time was an unwise attempt in high water conditions shortly after failing the first time. After that I kind of got turned off the place, which is a pity since it's an interesting cave.

I'm thinking of a return match (after all these years!). I'd be interested to know what the rigging situation is (i.e. has it been P-anchored?). When I went down it before I seem to remember that the rigging situation was not that good. We were in any case using the usual idiotic short-ladders-with-no-lifeline technique which I no longer subscribe to!

Any other tips/info would be useful.

P bolted ? your having a laugh ....
no its generally on 8mm spits or naturals
i like a ladder on the 1st - approached feet first
then use string on the rest of the pitches (or ladders if you have them)
the bastard hole is fun and free climable
speakers corner provides ample entertainment before the delights of David's Traverse....
getting dressed at the top of discovery pot is fun ...

"maintains interest to the bitter end...."

enjoy it Mark, its one of my favourite trips

I'd agree with that, I approached it head first and that is 'entertaining'.

Only time I was in there a couple of the pitches after the first had rope on them, that was quite a few years back, don't know if they are still there/how long they've been there or even who left them there!

And I've not been to the bottom either! :(

The in situ rope was 'removed' a couple of months back by some of my chums
