A couple of years ago, local caver, outdoor enthusiast and passionate filmmaker Gareth Williams began sharing his underground trips with us.
We shared the videos as far and wide as we could. Folk watched. They liked. They shared.
And millions of views later, those videos have travelled far beyond the cave entrances where they began.
When strong content performs well, Meta pays a small return. Our first payment has come in: £100. We’ve matched it, making £200 in total. It belongs exactly where it was earned: back in the community. Kendal Caving Club and Crewe Climbing & Pothole Club both feature in Gareth’s films, so we’re giving £100 shop credit to each caving club.
When a community builds something together, the rewards should flow back into that community.
This post is a thank you to Gareth, who's helped put Yorkshire caving and beyond in front of people who’d never even glanced down a pothole before. That’s worth far more than any algorithm.
