We use the Ponstar heavy duty submersible 110V pumps (the ones with yellow paintwork).

Note: Ponstar is the correct spelling... not Pondstar (as you might expect it to be)... and definitely not Pornstar.

I have just found out that it is a bad idea to Google Image search for Ponstar on your work computer... be warned

You can usually get them second-hand on eBay for around £100-£200 - We might be looking to buy more in the future for other projects so if you're bidding on one, drop me a PM so we don't end up bidding against eachother.

I can also recommend Tsurumi brand pumps (same design), which are similarly indestructible. They’re pretty ubiquitous on construction sites, so widely available.
