Mossdale - Ouroborous project

First write up since July last year though not relating to recent activity. This is the first of a few unfinished pieces and covers the period just before the project began.

Finally back to it, now that we're vaguely allowed once again. Things are also looking up and the mood is good. It's also beginning to feel like I'm back on the trail for the first time in a few years. Here's a few video links from the past week of activity. It is my intention to continue writing up the Session's, just having a break from it that's all. The videos have taken the pressure off that side a little bit.

Nice work, I have only watched 93 so far, it looks like there is definitely an improvement in airspace, though maybe only an inch or two.

Are you often changing where you dig in the choke, or do you just keep going until you think it's no longer worth it and try a different section? It looks like from your video it's the latter rather than the former. I hope you get lucky, and find the right one. You certainly deserve a breakthrough.

No there probably wasn't much change S93 in the 3rd Canal but the 2nd had already begun to drop considerably by then. It's mostly an inconvenience really. Like road works or a snow drift on your commute to work for me.
At some point before I began visiting Mossdale (prior 2005) some form of blockage cleared at Boulder Hall and allowed the level in The Swim (3rd cAnal) to fall. I recall the conclusion being that the swim had shingled up, at the time. This is definitely not the case now.
I don't really keep a log of all the extreme weather events we have, that cause sudden and severe flooding (I know who possibly does though). Lately (past half decade) they've seemed quite frequent. If I've noticed anything it's the effect these have had on the cave. Boulder Hall has taken a real pasting and the effects are showing. I've been very careful passing through there lately. Any visitors should treat everything they touch with suspicion, not just there but throughout the whole cave.

Before the break-thru to the lower level, via the Blowpipe, my options were pretty limited. Alley Cat being the primary spot. The possibilities increased with the discovery of the lower level. Last Resort, De Fleurs Passage, Healey Av and a lot of possible false floor. So yes I've tooed and frooed since the discovery of this sector mid-summer 2018. There is definitely something different about the Alley Cat Branch, especially the atmosphere, and I've felt it since the initial breakthrough. It's just tricky terrain to pass through, and as I said I was hoping to find an easier alternative. It's all in my session reports anyway.

As I've said before, floodwaters are now able to move much more freely and destructively through the choke. If I don't ever reveal a way on, flooding possibly will in time.

Not trying to win any awards with these, especially where camera work/visual stuff's concerned. At the working end it's getting trickier keeping the kit clean and I'd actually rather focus on the job in hand, so purely just a report of sorts. Still finding my feet with this one, and far from comfortable talking. The amount of genuinely interesting, relevant stuff I haven't said, apologies if it's mostly just shite. I will get there eventually.
