Mr O' Doc, alias Peter Glanvill, ( Granville to his friends ) is on Mastermind tonight. Specialist subject. How to erect cave scaffolding ? Scaffolding through the ages ? My travels with the worlds best caver Nick Chipchase . ( C'mon you bots --- ). Sadly no. Its either Micky Mouse or The Jurassic Coast. He wont say how it went.

 
The caving forum post about looking for contestants from unusual activities was part of the reason I reapplied. I really tried to get an aspect of British caving as a specialist subject but the question setters obviously didn't like the subject even when there were books they could refer to. Not sure why either.

Last night's Christmas university challenge finished with bonus questions on caving, but ran out of time before they managed to answer any of them (first being which national park is DYO located in ...)
 
Missed that unfortunately but might watch on iplayer. That's the Christmas version featuring alumni. The question compilers for these programmes seem to have a downer on caving as I made multiple suggestions on caving topics to the Mastermind team and they wouldn't play ball. I suggest somebody else tries applying who is a caver and perhaps the message will get through. Anyway my two topics have probably raised some awareness of their subject matter. And, no I don't know when the semi finals are going to be broadcast as the moment it's celebrity Mastermind or as Jasper Carrott said "Celebrity? Mastermind?".
