Heard through the Grape vine that there was an MRO rescue down Swildons on Saturday, apparently the Guy had a knee injury and had to be bought out from beyond Sump 3 :(

Anyone know the full story ????

Yes... Knee injury so potentially a nasty rescue as he couldn't bend his leg. Luckily he was a sea diver so bringing him through the sump was no problem and he helped himself along on the way out (all were v. impressed by the way he coped). There was a digging team down there anyway so diving kit was on site although 4 v. experienced CDG divers were called out for the potential diving rescue (in the end all assisted anyway).

That's good news, glad he got out ok, thought they may have had to get him out via Blue Pencil.......

You're not planning on being a practice rescue victim by any chance? Only joking.

Although it's a shame you got injured it's a good news story that you're alive and well.

Anyone heard any info on this? Or is this old news?

Old news, I'm afraid. He was lucky to be found - it was during Foot & Mouth and the Charterhouse Centre were the only people allowed on the reserve where the shaft was sited since it's their land - and at that time of year they used not to have many groups in anyway.... so a minor miracle the bloke didn't die down there.

Stainsby's Shaft now grilled over (standard CSCC padlock).

I think the incident was to dive a "victim" out via a sump tied down to a stretcher. Unfortunately they didn't turn his air bottle on. Oops.

you'd thin kthat would be one of the things to check.
while still on the surface, shove the reg in your mouth and breath in.
If intake of air = 0 then goto NODIVE STOP STOP STOP

Yes, but if there is a bit of pressure in your pipe, then you get a couple of mouthfuls and everything seems ok. I think thats what happened...

Turned on when getting the kit out of stores/car etc to check its good. Then turned off again.

That must have been horrifying the for the victim. I would have asked to see the on switch visually!

Big oops... air is always good... it depends on your regulater wether it works on neutral or positive pressure when you dive whether it will give you air or not. plus if your knocked out your not going to know much about switches being flicked...
thats two then the one i was thinking of was the 15 yr old who started to get hypothermic while in a stretcher...
