The whole cave will be de-rigged in the very near future.

The ropes have been left in (since 3 -Counties traverse) so that some conservation work can be done at the bottom (removal of decades old siphon pipe from sump)
Can people please take their own ropes and use them from now on .

Continual use of the in-situ ropes by everyone has led to significant wear and some abrasion ( requiring isolation)

Use your own ropes from now on, and expect the cave to be de-rigged (partially or entirely)  without notice.

With the exception of the final pitch (which lands at the sump), and the climb up to the Ireby Sump Passage, ALL the rest of Notts was derigged today (March 2, 2022)

I noticed the huge pile of old siphon pipes stacked up by the gate on Sunday.  Well done whoever pulled that lot out
