Ogof Gofan access

For anyone thinking of visiting Ogof Gofan in the coming months, the following are upcoming non-firing periods when the car parks and the coastline will be open to the public which provides access to the cave. The range will not be firing at other times too, which allows you to get in then, but their general 2023 plan is for 44 weeks of live firing with 2 nights of firing per week which would stop you getting evening only access too. You still need to book your cave visit through me and thus obtain landowner permission:

Sat 10th December 2022 to Sunday 8th January 2023 (holiday period - no firing)
Sat 1st April to Sunday 16th April 2023 (camp/range mainenance - no firing)
All of August 2023 (holiday period - no firing)

As to the system to go prospecting for new caves on Range West which is their big forbidden area with its fantastic geology although, it now has to be said, with limited potential for finding another Ogof Gofan there after people have had a good poke about, the access system is first to attend one of the range briefings held at the camp. The next ones are:

• Thursday 1st December 2022 – 18.00
• Saturday 3rd December 2022 – 09.00
• Thursday 19th January 2023 – 18.00
• Saturday 25th February 2023 – 09.00
• Thursday 23rd March 2023 – 18.00
• Friday 7th April (Good Friday) – 09.00
• Saturday 27th May (Spring Bank Holiday) – 09.00
• Thursday 15th June – 18.00
• Saturday 29th July – 09.00

Once you've been briefed about the risks and on the army annual list of approved visitors for 2022-23 then you just ask for a day permit at the camp gatehouse, on days when they are not firing of course. You do not apply for prospecting access into Range West through me.
