Paranormal activity at Wookey Hole?

The sounds aren't really new. Two suggestions are water flow sudden fluctuation in the third chamber and wind effects external to the cave. There was a paper in UBSS proceedings a while back https://www.ubss.org.uk/resources/proceedings/vol14/UBSS_Proc_14_2_131-140.pdf . I have described it before but worth commenting that sound can be transmitted long distances underground. When working in Reservoir Hole more than 10 years ago on occasions we would a muffled rumbling boom when we dug on Tuesdays. We thought we must be heading for an unstable area (we were but that wasn't it). I thought a bit harder when we heard it in the Frozen Deep and after some inquiries discovered a local quarry blasted on the same day at roughly the same time. The nearest working quarry is at least a mile away so perhaps blasting was taking place in the Wookey area - doesn't even have to be a quarry.

Yes, caves are places where strange sounds are almost inevitable as discussed in your recent thread about unexpected sounds. The shared glimpse of a figure is odd. I'm a sceptic by nature but do find reports like this intriguing. I'm not sure what I'd do in a similar situation - would I try to analyse things rationally or just leg it? Probably the latter if I was on my own.

Found this online re infrasound, i.e. Very Low Frequency sound:
"Infrasound frequencies around 18-19 Hz—below normal human hearing range (20-20,000 Hz)—can cause anxiety, fear, disorientation, and even visual hallucinations. Researcher Vic Tandy discovered this accidentally when experiencing dread and seeing apparitions in his laboratory. Investigation revealed a malfunctioning fan generating 18.98 Hz infrasound causing his eyeballs to resonate, creating peripheral vision distortions interpreted as ghosts. Human eyeball resonant frequency is approximately 18 Hz; when stimulated, vision distorts creating illusion of shadowy figures. Many haunted locations show elevated infrasound from wind patterns, ventilation systems, or structural vibrations. Natural sources include earthquakes, avalanches, waterfalls, and severe weather producing frequencies causing unease in animals and humans. Some researchers propose infrasound explains paranormal experiences—old buildings with drafty corridors and loose windows generate these frequencies. Elephants and whales communicate using infrasound below human hearing, with calls traveling hundreds of kilometers. Military weaponry research explored infrasound as psychological warfare, though extreme intensities required for weapon applications cause physical damage. This invisible sound explains some supernatural encounters through pure physics."

Interesting as the phenomenon might be related to the radon fan in the cave although how you would prove that I don't know. However it might provide a rational explanation.

I try to learn one thing (or more) each day.
I wouldn't have guessed this morning, that today it'd be that human eyeballs resonate somewhere around 18Hz. It's such utterly useless knowledge.. I'm bound to remember it for the rest of my life 🤣

What kind of research were they doing to get this information? It's probably not something I'd want to see while having my dinner .....
'Let me just attach these perfectly harmless probes to your eyeballs while I turn this dial. Oh, and tell me if you see anything demonic.'
